Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 23:45 in the 5k.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay thin and full of energy.

Not be an embarassment to my family full of world class athletes.

Personal:

Madly in love with Sasha. We have been married since 1996 and have been blessed with seven of the most adorable and talented children : Benjamin, Jennifer, Julia, and Joseph, Jacob, William and Stephen.

All of our children have run in at least one race, including Jacob and William who did it inside the womb. I enjoy various non-running activities such as: baking, sewing, playing organ, piano and flute, painting, and playing with our  vivacious children.

Well for anyone that doesn't know me I'm Sasha's wife and I am 7 months pregnant with our fifth child. I love running and have found that it really helps me have a healthy pregnancy.

Today my legs felt a little sore because well..I'm seven months pregnant and because I was wearing my new shoes that Sasha won from the Odgen Marathon. Happy Mother's Day to me. I'm interested to see how long I can run for with this one. I slow down dramatically at 30 weeks but haven't slowed down as much this time and I"m 32 weeks.

Welcome to the blog!

My left foot was hurting from the new shoes. I have orthodics and they might make getting used to new shoes harder. I also have noticed that my feet hurt more towards the end of my pregnancy.

Other than that the run actually went really well. I was able to speed up a little bit at the end.

I think I slow down and miss out on really feeling good during my run because of some of the aches and pains I experience as I get bigger.

My foot felt better today.

I didn't feel as fresh though as I usually do on Mondays. I ran most of the way at a pretty good pace..one leg was a little bit sore but at least my foot wasn't hurting anymore. Yay!

I'm looking forward to see how long I can keep this up for. I feel pretty good.

Totally worn out from trip to Idaho. I ran very well the two days we were there. I surprised myself but I ran out of adreline today and could not force my big body to move through the pain I was experiencing in the legs

Well, what can I say? I felt miserable today. My legs were sore and I was so exhausted. I noticed however that as I picked up the pace on the last half mile I felt better.

My legs felt fresher today than in a long time. The pain from new shoes is gone too. Yay! I felt pretty good and finished strong.

My legs felt very light and nice for the first mile and a half. It was heaven. I think that's the hardest part for me about running in late pregnancy...the sore legs...sore with every blessed step. So to step without soreness is so nice.

I slowed down a bit on the last half mile then kind of felt yucky for the rest of the day.

I felt amazingly fresh and fast on the first mile (well fast for me...meaning I ran sub 12 minute pace...believe me this feels fast when you are huge and pregnant

I felt a little bit of pain in the second mile and had to walk on and off but I finished strong.

Sarah - it's so awesome that you're still running so late in pregnancy! Pace doesn't matter, what matters is that you're out there moving (I have no idea how you find time to run, or do anything for yourself, for that matter, with 4 little kids).I'm sure it keeps you strong and mobile and will help with delivery. You have a great running family, so keep up the good work! I should try some of your healthy recipes - they sound delicious!

Well I've hit eight months and I'm really only shuffling through the run now. Sometimes I can be airborne for a quarter or a half mile at a time but not much longer.

It's not exactly walking so I'll still say I'm at least jogging through most of my workout.

I'll give myself another week or two before I need to walk. It's just a big joke for me those last few weeks when the baby and I are sooo big.

I finally ran today for the first time in a couple of days. It felt good but I wore myself out quickly. I also want to rest before the baby comes. I've been getting a lot of housework done too...cleaning out the car, under the beds, the junk drawer, the cabinets....etc.

I ran for about a quarter while Benjamin was pushing the double stroller for me. After he wimped out and then got stung by a bee and was screaming I was on my own.

I think being nine months pregnant pushing 50 pounds in the stroller counts for a pretty fair workout.

I'm really amazed that I can run at all. This is my first pregnancy that I've haven't been just walking the last couple of weeks.

No baby yet. Someone tells me I'm amazing almost every day for being out there moving. I think everyone who choses to do something good with their body can be amazing too.

Funny how running doesn't put me into labor. Everyone I know tells me to go for a walk and when I told them I've already been for a run they get real quiet and don't know what to say.

this is pretty funny story :). I thought that with the 5th baby you wouldn't have a problem being overdue, but I guess you never know! Anyway, I wish you a speedy and easy labor. Looks like you're in great shape, so it can only help. I don't know how you can even run being 9 months pregnant, let alone 12:00 pace - you ARE pretty amazing, so believe everyone who tells you that. I was walking in my last week, but it wasn't easy, I was so big... all I was wishing for is to get the baby OUT!!

From Sasha Pachev on Thu, Jul 20, 2006 at 16:12:36

I am waiting for the report on your 35.2 100 meter sprint yesterday...

Slow milesFast milesTotal Distance
2.000.002.00

I did a mile by myself in the morning. Then in the evening Sasha and I went to the canyon. We were just walking trying to get my contractions going stronger (I had had contractions since early morning).

Then for the fun of it we decided to try a 100 meter time trial. I did the first in 42 I think...Sasha's better at remembering times. I told him that that was not as fast as I could go. Then I tried another a little bit later and did 9:20 pace with a time of 35 seconds.

Sasha was impressed. I'm sure many pregnant women could have pulled it off it's just not something women want to try when they are that big.

I ran and walked with Sasha escorting me today. He has been so sweet and attentive these last few days. We think the baby is coming tomorrow. The midwife said I'm at an 8 right now and that she can break my water tomorrow morning. The labor should be quick and we should have a baby by lunchtime.

Wish us luck!!!

Slow milesFast milesTotal Distance

I haven't gotten the okay to run yet. I think I will be good to go when he is two or two and a half weeks. If I have a quick physical recovery I had my midwife give me the okay to run again at 2 weeks.

I'm excited to be able to run because it usually helps me sleep more deeply and then I can get back to being more of a mom for my kids during the day.

Jacob our new little one is doing well. He has a low grade fever and seems to be a little bit grouchy from it but is doing better today. I think he will be all better in a couple of days.

He'll be two weeks old on Friday and my midwife will come take a look at me. If she gives me the okay to run I'll try a half mile or so sometime next week.

My ligaments are stretching back into place and sometimes that can make running a long way at first uncomfortable and not really a good idea.

We'll see how things go.

I had a great time running to the end of my pregnancy and look forward to getting back into shape.

I'm slowly improving as I recover from jacob.

Felt tired today from lack of sleep and some stress over selling our house but otherwise had a good run. I'm excited to keep running and see my times and distance slowly improve.

I felt really good today. I felt like I could push myself cardiovascularly. As I recover from the baby and my muscles start waking up I find that I get stronger and then feel weaker again. I've been kind of cycling through that.Today was a good day.

Sarah, thanks for your comments! It's really no super accomplishment for me to run and blog every day, because I'm not working now, since we moved to UK. You, on the other hand, have 5 kids to take care of, including a newborn. I think that running and blogging about it wouldn't be high on your priorities list. You must be exceptionally organized person. I know from Sasha's comments that your kids are home schooled - I assume it's primarily your job as well. I really admire you for being able to handle it all. If you can find any time to run, it's terrific. I'm sure it gives you a break, and a little time to yourself.
