Running Accomplishments:

I ran the Top of Utah Marathon in 4:43 after having my third child the year before. 5 K in 24:19, 10 K in 53 minutes pregnant. Survived personal training from my lovable but slightly overbearing husband Sasha for more than 8 years!!

Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 23:45 in the 5k.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay thin and full of energy.

Not be an embarassment to my family full of world class athletes.

Personal:

Madly in love with Sasha. We have been married since 1996 and have been blessed with seven of the most adorable and talented children : Benjamin, Jennifer, Julia, and Joseph, Jacob, William and Stephen.

All of our children have run in at least one race, including Jacob and William who did it inside the womb. I enjoy various non-running activities such as: baking, sewing, playing organ, piano and flute, painting, and playing with our  vivacious children.

Okay...now comes the real triumph for me....I was able to run a tempo run yesterday, take care of my family normally, and even can homemade salsa in the evening(which is a fairly big job)....and run my normal 5 miles at about 11:00 minute mile pace today....WITHOUT CRASHING (this is the key phrase...anyone can do all those things and wear themselves out any day)

I'm so happy to be at this point. I realize for me anyway that each time I have a child I'm sacrificing my fitness a bit because I can't stay in that type of shape during pregnancy and when I have a new baby to take care of. I lose it every time and then it takes me awhile to get it back. The sacrifice is totally worth it for me because I have a testimony of the sacred calling I have as a mother...as many LDS women do and have been taught to do. However...it is a triumphant day for me when I can see that despite my sacrifices and my time away from being fit that I am back to a level that I can feel very happy about.

I am also grateful to Sasha for being dogmatic about not giving up and helping me stay consistent. I would not have been able to do it on my own personally because I am not an athlete and wasn't trained as one as a child. Like Michelle likes to say...some bodies are forced to run...

I am so glad that you had such a good day and still felt up to all the challenges of motherhood ect. You are much stronger than you give yourself credit for!!! You probably do more in a day than I do in most weeks. I think you run your own private marathon nearly daily! Thanks for the lovely example you are and keep up the good work :)

You are my hero! I'm still struggling with energy to do it all every day. You are awesome!

I need to qualify this...I don't always have the energy to do it all every day...but when I do I am so grateful...thanks for the positive comments..you guys are good friends.

You made it! You are back in the best shape of your LIFE! And you did it after having five kids. Wow.

I hope tomorrow goes well, too.

So now it's time for Mary and William to come. They can be twins! (Was Mary one of your names? I can't remember. I was scrolling back through your blogs to find were you mentioned baby names. Maybe we taked about it on my blog.)

Forgive me for being dense, but are you pregnant with twins? Congratulations! And, your dedication to your family and running is very inspiring!

From sarah on Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 08:07:54

Being dense is totally allowed on my blog space anyway...I think it's adorable that you thought I could run and be pregnant with twins....I'm just thinking about getting pregnant and since it didn't happen right away now I'm obessing over it a bit too much.

From Shauna on Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 12:00:26

Silly me! I have never been pregnant, so I don't know what I'm talking about. I did see that you have continued to run during pregnancies, but pregnant with twins would probably be a whole different story! Now, looking back at the comments, it all makes sense.

Anyway, I am so impressed at your energy level! I don't have that much energy, and it's just me and my husband!
