Running Accomplishments:

I ran the Top of Utah Marathon in 4:43 after having my third child the year before. 5 K in 24:19, 10 K in 53 minutes pregnant. Survived personal training from my lovable but slightly overbearing husband Sasha for more than 8 years!!

Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 23:45 in the 5k.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay thin and full of energy.

Not be an embarassment to my family full of world class athletes.

Personal:

Madly in love with Sasha. We have been married since 1996 and have been blessed with seven of the most adorable and talented children : Benjamin, Jennifer, Julia, and Joseph, Jacob, William and Stephen.

All of our children have run in at least one race, including Jacob and William who did it inside the womb. I enjoy various non-running activities such as: baking, sewing, playing organ, piano and flute, painting, and playing with our  vivacious children.

Yes...that's right my legs felt so fresh after my half marathon that I decided to go for 8.....on the bike...and even that was a BIG mistake....I'm exhausted and in a bad mood...good thing none of you are around or I'd make you come wash my walls for me.  Actually you wouldn't have to because my 4 year old got in trouble for whining at me that she wanted a friend( I pointed out I'd spent 36 months making her live in friends and she didn't like that idea)..anyway..the four year old is washing walls right now.

Sasha told me to eat some honey sandwiches until I feel better....I think I'll watch Sound of Music today and pretend I don't have any work to do while my grass dies, weeds grow and the dishes in the sink pile up....

I've found that life became a lot easier when I accepted the fact of brown lawns and weeds.

From Dave Holt on Mon, Aug 13, 2007 at 15:15:22

Isn't that what a lawn is in Utah?

From sarah on Mon, Aug 13, 2007 at 16:35:32

Aha!!! So you runners confess that you can't keep up with yard work and running..I knew it...I guess it doesn't help that we live in Utah...thanks for the laugh guys!!

You do know the old saying " If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" I can't believe how much truth there is to that! Luckily running is usually to blame for my better moods as it is a bit of a pick me up, so if the family has to endure a grumpy one now and then I'm sure the trade of is still in thier favor! :)

I'm sorry you're having one of those days. Is it better, yet?

I think you have TOTALLY earned a break. It isn't requisite that a WOman should run more than she has strength!

Is the honey sandwich for tiredness or a mood pick-up, or what?

School started here in Mesa, today. Do you have one or two children starting school soon? Or do you homeschool? I can't remember... My 4yo thought that her day would be endless fun (since bro & sis got to go to school) and was sad when we came home from Lybi's house & the store. :P She only had two little sisters to play with, then. hehe

You know I would love to have a running partener! If only in "Blog".... But I have to say there must of just been something in the air yesterday! I had one of the worst runs also (If you can count 2 miles on the treadmill a run) Luckily theres always tomorrow and things usually look up after a "rainy" day!

Since Ive started running on a regular basis my lawn has gone to chaos and despair. Time to teach those kids how to wash dishes too

Hi Sarah,

(this is the formerly pregnant heather--I 'm not sure how to respond to comments on my blog). Thanks for the welcome. I ran until I was 7 months pregnant and probably could have gone another month but I injured myself during a 5K race. So it's been 3 months since I've run and I can tell! I ran a couple of 5Ks while I was pregnant and loved the reaction of people seeing me and my bump in the race. :)

I am glad to see that biking and treadmills count as milage because once the snow starts piling up I am staying inside and using the eliptical trainer my husband bought for me. I've had the thing for months and have really used it yet but trust me in a few months it will see a lot more use.
