I ran the Top of Utah Marathon in 4:43 after having my third child the year before. 5 K in 24:19, 10 K in 53 minutes pregnant. Survived personal training from my lovable but slightly overbearing husband Sasha for more than 8 years!!

Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 23:45 in the 5k.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay thin and full of energy.

Not be an embarassment to my family full of world class athletes.

Personal:

Madly in love with Sasha. We have been married since 1996 and have been blessed with seven of the most adorable and talented children : Benjamin, Jennifer, Julia, and Joseph, Jacob, William and Stephen.

All of our children have run in at least one race, including Jacob and William who did it inside the womb. I enjoy various non-running activities such as: baking, sewing, playing organ, piano and flute, painting, and playing with our  vivacious children.

Tempo run 15:56....had an issue with the leaves on the ground making my eyes go crazy so I slowed down a little bit at the end.

I am excited about this run though because I ran smarter today. I relaxed the first half mile and then starting working a bit more gradually, gradually until pushing it hard the last half mile(except when I lost concentration because my eyes with going nutso looking at all the leaves on the ground) I'll blame the leave thing on the fact that I have one nearsighted and one farsighted eye and they are a little imbalanced . Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween. Our party went perfectly . I had a fun spread of food. Next year I may ask people to bring something to make it more fun for them to share one of their families treats....I made this incredible apple cider in my crockpot with whole allspice, cloves, cinnamon sticks and orange slices floating in it. It was a classic beauty and actually the hit of the party. We had fun talking and the kids played and watched a crazy ailen movie that is based on a book series that Benjamin LOVES.

Congratulations on the tempo. Based on my 3 months on this blog, in a while (unless you become, er, with child) you will be writing about flying through a two mile tempo like it is nothing. Then it will go to three...

Oh yeah and life has been crazy since we started the homemade baby food discussion. I buy all kinds of veggies and steam them when I make dinner, let them cool and put them in ice cube trays. Then I transfer them to zippered bags.

Of course now that she's older we feed her off our plates. However, I eat a LOT of salad. It is going to be a long time before she eats that! She just now has two teeth coming in.

You sound like a wonderful mom and person. I think I will get use to the tempo runs in a couple of weeks and yes...maybe I will try for three...hadn't thought about it but sounds like a good next step...thanks for the idea.

I love the idea of steaming veggies while you are cooking dinner...maybe I'll try that with the next bambino. I used to make a lot of sweet potatoes that way for my third baby Julia. She wasn't a big food baby..kind of liked nursing until she was one and then finally branched out into a more solid diet. Joseph, my fourth was opposite. He demanded to eat EVERYTHING that we were eating from the time he was five months old and old enough to understand the connections between fork, plate and mouth. He was HILARIOUS. That's when out of desperation I figured out that mashing up the baby friendly meals we were having like lentil soup, chicken and rice...etc worked well for him. My fifth was more normal in that he didn't want real meals until about 9 months and was happy to eat baby food for awhile ....until he tasted mama's cooking.

For the caramel apples I tried crystallized fructose in place of normal sugar in a caramel sauce recipe I found online but I also found a recipe using honey and think that I'll try that one instead next time because the fructose didn't stick to the apples...it was delicious however and my kids loved them.

have a good day.
