Personal:

Madly in love with Sasha. We have been married since 1996 and have been blessed with seven of the most adorable and talented children : Benjamin, Jennifer, Julia, and Joseph, Jacob, William and Stephen.

All of our children have run in at least one race, including Jacob and William who did it inside the womb. I enjoy various non-running activities such as: baking, sewing, playing organ, piano and flute, painting, and playing with our  vivacious children.

Happy Anniversary to me and Sasha!! 11 years, 5 kids and one really really cool fast running blog. Things are going great.

5.12 in 50:01. Amanda and I have decided that most days we need to be going sub 10 because it just feels better.

Tribute to my husband in honor of our anniversary.

Sasha and I met 15 years ago in Moscow, Russia. When I first met him I was utterly convinced that he was an American and simply would not believe him when he told me in perfect English that he was indeed Russian through and through. Our friendship progressed as I lived there with my family for two more years. I was very impressed with him after getting to know him while he tutored me in math for a few months. He came almost every day and saved me from failing Trigonometry. I remember thinking one day....and the thought came as a sudden bubble in my mind...almost involuntary. "I could marry this guy someday" He left for BYU and I stayed in Russia, we wrote letters and that is when the relationship blossomed. I actually had sworn to myself to never marry a Russian and many of our ex-pat friends frowned on our friendship.

He left for his mission and I came to BYU. We wrote again but this time I wasn't interested. I was in a flirters heaven and I think I dated more than any other girl(except one) that I knew. The other girl went on Monday dates which I abstained from since I was in charge of my family home evening group in my ward and had to obviously be at the meetings.

I nearly missed my chance to marry Sasha...I fell in love with someone else and almost marrried him. After breaking that off I started thinking about what I was going to do with my life and Sasha came back into my mind. He was on a mission in Salt Lake and I had moved to Salt Lake so we weren't allowed to write eachother. I couldn't talk to him so I continued to be distracted by other boys.

When Sasha came back from his mission, distracted as I was, I somehow knew deep down that he was the one for me. When had never even held hands before so I actually just wanted to know if I was...well attracted. As soon as I saw him I knew and he proposed to me after being together an hour....I didn't say yes right away..it's not that fairy tale of a story.

I guess the tribute part comes in that he is the most honest, hardworking, wonderful man..yes of course we've been at eachother's throats sometimes but really as we mature and try to just be unselfish and more Christlike we have a great marriage and I am really thankful for him.   Love ya honey.

Good for you...11 years and more in love than ever (so it sounds). Enjoyed reading a bit about how the two of you met; fun story.

By the way, no worries about the horse info...just wanted to make sure you got it.

Happy Anniversary!

Great story.. In todays world I would say it's a great fairytale!!! I have a question though, what was your family doing in Russia? You aren't from there origianally are you? If you are I totally missed that!!!

Yes...we are more in love..but it definitely takes dedication and unselfish attitude to get the great results.

My Dad worked in Russia when I was a teenager. I am from the foreign country of Texas.
