Running Accomplishments:

I ran the Top of Utah Marathon in 4:43 after having my third child the year before. 5 K in 24:19, 10 K in 53 minutes pregnant. Survived personal training from my lovable but slightly overbearing husband Sasha for more than 8 years!!

Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 23:45 in the 5k.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay thin and full of energy.

Not be an embarassment to my family full of world class athletes.

Personal:

Madly in love with Sasha. We have been married since 1996 and have been blessed with seven of the most adorable and talented children : Benjamin, Jennifer, Julia, and Joseph, Jacob, William and Stephen.

All of our children have run in at least one race, including Jacob and William who did it inside the womb. I enjoy various non-running activities such as: baking, sewing, playing organ, piano and flute, painting, and playing with our  vivacious children.

Average run today. I beat the 12 minute mile girl so that's okay for me. I have plans to try and make these raw flaxseed crackers that Sasha loves. I've never tried anything like this before...you basically just food process all the seeds and veggies together and then glop it onto your dehydrator and check it in a day. I hope they turn out. Sasha really loves these crackers.

I've started a new quilt. I had so much fun making my last one I couldn't help myself. This quilt also won't prove to be too glamorous but it will be functional. I'm making a quilt almost completely out of old jeans. I'm going to throw in parts of a favorite jacket of mine that I literally lived in when I was a teenager in Russia. I kind of made up the pattern myself so we'll see how it actually looks when it's done. At any rate. I know it will get lots of use. We love to go on picnics.

I'm new to the blog and I've just figured out how to comment/return comment -- so first, thank you so much for the welcome and your kind words about 'losing' Amanda. I hope you and I get a chance to run togehter sometime after the baby. I started running with Amanda after my other running friend dropped out of our St. George training 3 weeks before the marathon due to high risk pregnancy. She delivered a healthy baby girl so it was worth the wait. Anyway--thanks for the welcome, and your comments about the Garmin. I'll be looking at the 1/4 mile markers for a while (as Sasha suggested) before I break down and get a Garmin. P.S. I LOVE THOSE CRACKERS TOO!! Let us know howt they turn out! P.P.S. you are amazing for running pregnant (not to mention all the other amazing things you do, plus 5 other kids!!)

Actually February will be perfect timing to find a new trail running friend. It's hard to run by yourself on packed ice in the dark of winter. I'm not picky about doing 10 mintue miles either. Catherine is starting out power-walking by 4 weeks, and walk/jogging to running. But she thinks she's going to run/jogging by the freedom 10K. Her baby was born mid-April. So it seems like 3-4 months is the norm. Amanda and I started out at 9 minute miles--which is my comfortable pace. But that tricky girl got faster and faster. She finished the Ogden half at 1:53. I was struggleing near mile 8 doing 8.30 minute miles, and so patted I her on the back and said, "sweety, today is your day, run like the wind" and she did. In the meantime, you be good to yourself now and for a long time after the baby.

And, if #6 doesn't kill you, I'd be honored to run 11 minute miles with the fastrunning mommy!

Well...I know what you mean about tricky Amanda...I had to slow that lady down and was delighted that she had a faster partner that lived near her..When I get in better shape I can closer to 9 9:30 but I have to admit that I am comfortable with 10. I can race at 8:00 mile pace and when my baby's older do tempo runs at 8 8:30 pace. Let's talk about it again but I'd also love to get together with you. We live near enough eachother that we might be able to work something out. Good luck on training. I think you are very talented and am impressed that you can train at the paces you do.

Great job Sarah! How fun that you have started another quilt. I think jean quilts are always cool-looking. A picnic blanket! Fun fun.

My friend made one and I was in shock that she was using her beautiful quilt as a picnic blanket. Now she is laughing at me for making one too!! It is a low stress blanket for me to practice my quilting skills on. I love quilting but I don't handle stress well. Okay..let me rephrase that. I handle stress fine but I need my projects to be a stress release from the stress of my day to day chosen job as a mama.
