I ran the Top of Utah Marathon in 4:43 after having my third child the year before. 5 K in 24:19, 10 K in 53 minutes pregnant. Survived personal training from my lovable but slightly overbearing husband Sasha for more than 8 years!!

Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 23:45 in the 5k.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay thin and full of energy.

Not be an embarassment to my family full of world class athletes.

Personal:

Madly in love with Sasha. We have been married since 1996 and have been blessed with seven of the most adorable and talented children : Benjamin, Jennifer, Julia, and Joseph, Jacob, William and Stephen.

All of our children have run in at least one race, including Jacob and William who did it inside the womb. I enjoy various non-running activities such as: baking, sewing, playing organ, piano and flute, painting, and playing with our  vivacious children.

I was just lazy today. I could not get myself to run very fast or far because every time I lifted up my legs I felt a baby shoulders in the way. getting excited to meet Stephen

I was able to run pretty well today..no contractions..no shoulders in the way. I know it may seem crazy for me to keep trying to run when I'm so close..and it is..but I just take it day by day and try to do my best each day.

Up with contractions in the early morning and I've got a birthday party today so I just went slow and short. My daughter Jenny's birthday is August 25th. Since I'm fairly certain I'll have a baby around then we decided to do her party today. Honestly this is all I need to get through before I have the baby..anything else can just work out how it works out but I really wanted to give my daughter a birthday party.  Everyone cross your fingers that I don't go into labor until after 3 today.

Made the mistake of trying to run on the trail...had contrations again and bladder pain so next week I'm going to just stay close to home in case I can't even walk home.

Pretty good today. I didn't have any bladder pain..a few contractions. I've got 10 days left. I've never gone earlier than 5 and don't really plan on that. I went around the block and probably will from now on in case I get myself in trouble..then I won't have very far to walk home. :)

I had a great run today. It felt so nice to be able to move my legs. Sasha said I didn't even look pregnant when he saw me as he was heading home.

another good run. I ran into my most recent running partner..GeriAnn and was able to talk a little. She's in good shape and I'm so happy for her!

Good run again today. We've had a crazy week though. We found deadly nightshade growing in our front bushes. Well..it had been growing there but I didn't do anything with it because the flowers were so pretty. Then Sasha's mom says, "Oh I used to eat those sometimes when I was a kid..they are poisonous..they are related to the tomato." ding ding..my herb training went off..I know that plant but I'd never seen it in flowering form..just the deadly black berry form.  I looked it up on-line and sure enough...the dreaded deadly nightshade that I had been innocently and ignorantly admiring all summer.  We got the bushes and all of the yucky plant taken out right away. Then yesterday we got a letter from Provo city saying our side yard was in violation. When we got construction done last fall they left rocks and dirt on the side yard. Lots of people have rocks on the side on their yard and park there so I didn't think anything of it. Now I know that if you've had rocks as a parking place for several years..before they passed the new law..then it's okay. If it's new rocks and you want to park there ...or even if you pave it...they won't let you anymore. It's a beautiful example of cruel government...I get this letter yesterday...I'm 9 days away from having our 7th child and the letter gives me 14 days to get the landscaping fixed. Since Sasha is too busy to leave work I go down to their office..cry my eyes out..well I didn't really..but I did lose it for a second...and get a whole 14 days more.   They did say they will work will us if the landscaping crew has started the job but not finished because of scheduling difficulties....maybe the next few days will be calmer with no deadly plants in my yard or mean letters from Provo city. BTW...the deadly nightshade plant is potent enough that a single leaf is lethal to an adult..2-3 berries kill a child..8-10 an adult....seriously scary stuff...have a good one everybody!

I have had a pretty good week as far as running goes. I'm 39 weeks...and 1 day..6 more days. I think I'm past the freaking myself out point...thinking about the pain...and just hoping I have a couple more days to get everything ready. But I'm also ready to meet this child and already feeling the great love I will have for him..despite him being the fifth boy. In fact I think I may be allowed to experience more love for him than any of the others.

I was also thinking about how the spirit and the body are joined together...at least that is what I believe as a Latter Day Saint. It seems so wonderful to think of his spirit coming to earth in only a few days....it truly is a miracle every time a baby is born.

do dee do dee do dee do dee you are now entering the TWILIGHT ZONE....I always love and hate those last few days before a baby where every twitch of my uterus makes me wonder...is this it..should I call my midwife...are we having the baby?  Trying to be brave and mentally prepare....wish me luck.

Good day for running..bad day for labor...I guess I'm going to Education Week today. Whenever I go I let myself have one long day. I'm meeting my midwife for lunch (she's going too) and I'll try to convince her to not talk baby with me at all. Yesterday she said he feels like a solid one...8 pounds at least....When I went 5 days overdue with Jacob he ended up being 9' 5!   Sasha showed me off to a Kenyan he happened to be running with today..."That's my wife and she's due in 4 days." with pride sparkling in his eyes (gotta love it). He thinks Patrick didn't understand from the blank stare. I think he just wasn't impressed thinking..so what..my mom walks 10 miles to the market while in labor..has the baby on the way..buys some fruit and comes home again to make dinner and feed the animals.

I met my midwife for lunch yesterday at Ed Week and we had a good time. She said most woman don't go early...so how come everyone else I knew that was pregnant in the next two weeks already had their babies?  1 day overdue isn't anything to complain about..my nerves are just shot.  I still have things I'd like to finish up so I guess I should just get busy and stay happy.  Thanks for all your thoughts and comments.  :)

Stephen was born early Sunday morning..12:20 a.m.  Sasha gave me a blessing Saturday morning that I would have a baby that night...and it came true!! What a miracle and testimony of God's tender mercies for his children!!  He was a little guy 7 lbs 4 oz..little for our family anyway and 20 inches long. Adorable and can't tell who he looks like..brown hair..maybe some red highlights like mom.  We are trying to hang in there and survive but doing well. :)
